If you are reading Live from Macworld 2007 on Engadget, you would have seen that Apple has officially announced their Iphone (on the left you can see a picture of Steve Jobs showing off the features). The phone has a 2 megapixel camera, built in ipod connector, 8 GB of storage, and more. It is a smartphone that will sync your contacts, calendars, photos, notes, bookmarks, email accounts, and more. Additionally, there is an accellerometer that can tell whether you are in landscape or portrait. The Iphone will also be completely touchscreen. I will provide more details as well as feedback as they come in from Engadget’s live feed.

Another interesting development is Steve Job’s announcement that Apple is partnering with Yahoo to offer free push-IMAP email to iPhone customers. This is the same push-email technology that Blackberry has to offer! How much will the phone cost? It’s going to cost $499 for a 4 GB phone and $599 for the 8 GB phone. When is the phone going to be on the shelves? Well, the phone will be shipped in June so you have 6 months to save up your money to get yourself one of the hottest gadgets on the market this year.

I’d like to know more about what software the iPhone will be syncing with. I’m guessing it will be Apple’s software and we will need to purchase a Mac to make it work. Oh well! The phone seems pretty cool.
